Leon McCawley studied at Chetham's School of Music before winning the BBC Young Musician piano section followed by the 1993 International Beethoven Piano Competition. His busy performing schedule comprises recitals and concerto solos around the world as well as creating critically acclaimed recordings. Leon is currently professor of piano at the Royal College of Music and frequently serves as juror and adjudicator for prestigious UK and international competitions including the International Edvard Grieg Piano Competition.
Our programme for this concert will start with Bach's Italian Concerto, then moving into the classical period with Beethoven and Mozart sonatas and concluding with Schubert's beautiful last piano sonata.
You may wish to bring a cushion as St James the Great has traditional church seating. The rest of the season will take place at Morpeth Methodist Church.
