The Engegård Quartet
takes its name from violinist Arvid Engegård. The Norway based quartet, including Arvid’s partner Juliet Jopling on viola, gave its first performance at the Lofoten International Chamber Music Festival in 2006. All of the musicians have rich musical lives outside the quartet including leading festivals, teaching and solo performances.
This concert starts with Haydn’s ‘Fifths’ quartet named for the descending intervals which open the first movement. Grieg’s only complete string quartet follows with the last of Schumann's only set of string quartets.
